Little Victories

Reactions determine our destiny, not the things that happen to us. I must admit, I am a reactionary. I react to situations before I give myself time to process what just happened. Usually, it is not good. I either end up assuming,  taking things personally or just reacting badly…internally.  Yesterday I was parked up against a concrete parking barrier. I got in my car and started to back up when I heard a scrapping noise…I stopped, but I had heard that sound before on several occasions and it was just my poor judge of distance, so I proceeded to back up slowly when I next heard a crack, pop, snap. People were going into the building I had just exited and gasp with horror when they heard the sounds coming from my car. I got out of my car to find my left front bumper hanging off of my car along with the cover for the undercarriage and the wheel well plastic torn loose. In one of the rare occasions that I just take it as it comes, I just said “well…crap” and tried to put it all back together so I could drive home! I made it home amidst the sounds of flapping. When I got home, my tire had shredded what was left of the wheel well. I proceeded to take my car to the body shop today and am getting it taken care of. I was proud of myself, because I didn’t get upset. It was what it was and there was no changing it. A little victory for me…not financially mind you, but emotionally!!! I will take them where I can get them. Peace…
